AUC is committed to fostering diversity, equity and inclusion in the community
The purpose of the Diversity Leadership Group (DLG) is to oversee the implementation and development of AUC's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Plan, and to play an advisory role on AUC’s diversity policies more generally.
On top of this, the DLG supports community-building for AUC on diversity-related topics. The DLG has collaborated with members of the community on the following events:
A guided walk, led by Wim Manuhutu, in and around Amsterdam’s Indische Buurt to explore how the cityscape reflects the Netherlands’ colonial past, postcolonial present and the intertwined dynamics of history and memory (September 2025).
First-Gen Voices lunch discussion with Dr. Hilla Dyan, Dr. Lorenzo Galeotti and Dr. Luis Aguilar Suarez where first-generation students could connect with staff who were the first in their families to attend university, while focusing on building confidence, managing expectations and making the most of available support (November 2025).
A panel discussion, co-organised with the FNWI, that brought together staff and students from both organisations to explore the importance of belonging within the university community (December 2025).
The Diversity Leadership Group (DLG) is composed of an equal number of staff members and students working on improving Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) efforts at the college. Prof. Dr. Monika Kirloskar-Steinbach, AUC's Diversity Advisor, oversees the DLG.
